Guardians of the Galaxy Kill Off One of Their MCU Villains

In Guardians of the Galaxy Volume Two, the team destroyed Ego the Living Planet, and in round two in the comics, he doesn’t do so well either.

Spoilers ahead for Guardians of the Galaxy #18!

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, the titular team fought Ego, the Living Planet on the big screen. “The Last Annihilation” began when the dread Dormammu took possession of Ego, magically charging up the Living Planet, and using him to launch a campaign of terror across the galaxy. If Dormammu is successful, it will create a pentagram sigil, which will give him total domination of the galaxy. While Dormammu’s plan has brought untold chaos and destruction, it has also helped unite a fractured galaxy, as warring species have laid aside their differences in the face of a great evil. In Guardians of the Galaxy #17, Dormammu initiated his endgame, and the Guardians became all that stood between him and the galaxy.
